Girl, 6, Fatally Struck by Vehicle Near Freight Lane Thursday
Chico, CA (February 18, 2022) – A 6-year-old girl died following a pedestrian accident that occurred on State Route 32 Thursday evening, the ABC7 News reported.
Our sources indicated 55-year-old Kevin T. Wilkerson was behind the wheel of a vehicle traveling east on the highway. When the car approached the area near Freight Lane, a group of pedestrians ran out into the roadway.
The article published online mentioned the driver braked. However, the vehicle was unable to stop on time and struck a child. The horrible crash took place at about 6:05 p.m.

When rescue teams arrived at the location, they found the 6-year-old girl with serious injuries. An ambulance rushed the patient to Enloe Medical Center, where she later sadly died. Authorities continue to withhold the identity of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, Wilkerson appeared unharmed after the incident.
