CHICO (August 2, 2016)- According to Action News Now, Eric Thomas, 53, of Oroville, has been identified as the victim killed in a fatal crash with a big rig on Highway 99.
The incident which occurred at 2:37 p.m. on Tuesday and involved two vehicles.
The article reports that Eric Thomas was the driver of a pickup truck headed southbound on Highway 99 before a big rig headed northbound driven by Ranjeet Thind, 29, of Yuba City, suddenly swerved into southbound lanes triggering a head-on collision.
The crash instantly triggered a fire as Thomas’s vehicle burst into flames.
Thomas, the sole motorist in the vehicle, sadly did not survive the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The big rig driver, Thind, was uninjured following the collision and was not suspected to be under the influence of any drugs or alcohol after close observation.
