2 Injured in Chico Big Rig Crash on Highway 99 Near Gaia Way
CHICO, CA (June 10, 2022) – A head-on crash left two people injured on Highway 99 near Gaia Way in Chico.
According to an article published by the Action News Now, the accident took place on Friday morning. Officers reported the wreck at around 5 a.m.
The incident began when a woman was driving south on Highway 99 near Gaia Way in Chico. For an unknown reason, she veered into the northbound lane.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
The California Highway Patrol said the car then slammed head-on into a big rig going north at the time. In the process, two other vehicles became involved in the collision.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found two occupants who ended up hurt as a result of the incident.
Medical personnel provided treatment to both patients for the minor injuries they sustained in the accident. The names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time were not disclosed.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the northbound lane of Highway 99 to shut down near Gaia for nearly two hours following the wreck. The cause of the Chico crash is still under investigation.
