Multi-Vehicle Collision on State Route 99 in Chico
CHICO, Calif. (May 15, 2024) — A head-on crash happened Wednesday morning on Highway 99 at Southgate Avenue in Chico.
The multi-vehicle collision occurred at around 6:17 a.m. on May 15th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the collision was set off when a “speeding” gray Honda was allegedly “driving extremely recklessly and was passing on the right-hand shoulder,” the report said.
The 4-door Honda and a black Nissan SUV collided on the southbound side of State Route 99 near the intersection.
Paramedics from the Butte County Fire Department responded to help at least one person with injuries, but there are no further details at this time.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the Highway 99 crash in Chico.
