Girl, 7, Suffers Broken Leg; Boy, 11, Minor Injuries
DURHAM, Calif. (August 2, 2018) – Two children ages 7 and 11 years old were injured Tuesday night when they were struck by an SUV in a hit-and-run collision on Midway, according to Action News Now.
The driver in an SUV drifted off the roadway and struck the 11-year-old boy and his 7-year-old sister who were walking to the store on the east shoulder, just south of Campbell Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver who was in a larger to mid-sized dark-colored SUV, possibly a Chevy Tahoe, kept going and didn’t stop to help the children. Police believe the vehicle will have right front end damage.
The collision took place just before 9 p.m. A passerby who saw what happened stopped to help the injured children and was able to contact their parents.
The children were taken to a hospital where the girl was treated for a broken leg and her brother for minor injuries.
