Several Others Seriously Injured in Collision Involving DUI Suspect
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (August 20, 2026) — A violent crash involving a suspected DUI driver resulted in the death of 8-year-old Camila Leon and serious injuries to four others Saturday on the Ramona Expressway in Perris.
The crash, reported at 5:36 p.m. on August 15th, involved two vehicles, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Police arrested Silvia Corona, 52, of San Jacinto, on charges including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury.
Paramedics responded and located five people with injuries, including the 8-year-old girl. They were transported to hospitals, but sadly, Camila Leon did not survive.
A GoFundMe page created to support the family of the little girl states her family members, including her brother and father, are still in the hospital in critical condition. The mother was also hospitalized, but in stable condition.
The circumstances leading up to the collision are under investigation.
Finally, witnesses are asked to speak with detectives at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
