Child on Bicycle Injured in Sacramento Crash at Watt Avenue and Folsom Boulevard

SACRAMENTO, Calif., (Sept. 27, 2026) — A child riding a bicycle was seriously injured Sunday when she was hit by a black Buick Encore at Watt Avenue and Folsom Boulevard in Sacramento.

The incident was reported on Sept. 27th at approximately 1:37 p.m. in the East Sacramento area. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision took place when the black Buick Encore made a legal left turn on a green light. The child reportedly crossed the street against the light, leading to the unfortunate accident.

Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, with units en route by 1:38 p.m. and on-site by 1:46 p.m. Firefighters and paramedics treated the injured child, who was found in the roadway following the collision. The child, whose identity has not been released, sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital for further medical care.

Witnesses indicated that the light was green for the Buick Encore, and the child allegedly ran the red light on their bicycle. Traffic lanes were temporarily closed but were reopened shortly after 2:01 p.m.

The Sacramento Police Department is actively investigating the collision and is urging anyone who witnessed the accident or who has additional information to come forward.
