3 Children, 1 Adult Hurt in Crash on 59th Place
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 23, 2018) – A black Infiniti sedan being chased by police crashed into a compact car in South Los Angeles Tuesday afternoon,
The collision, reported at 1:55 p.m., injured three children under age 10 and one adult.
The crash took place in the 1300 block of West 59th Place, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Paramedics rushed the adult and three children to a hospital, but they stated that none of the injuries were life threatening.
The report stated that the Los Angeles Police Department had stopped a vehicle occupied by two males prior to the collision. One of them was armed with a gun and got out of the vehicle and ran. Place chased the suspect on foot.
A driver in another vehicle picked up the fleeing suspect and sped away from police, but then struck the victim’s vehicle with the children inside. Police arrested one suspect, but two of them got away.
Los Angeles Crash Investigation
Police are hoping to locate the suspects who fled the scene and got away. The suspect who was arrested is likely to face both criminal charges and a civil lawsuit. Authorities will piece together evidence and any witness statements to also determine fault. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of the vehicles, skid marks, and gouge marks.
There may also be liability on the part of the police department due to the pursuit involved.
