Driver Hits 3 Kids on Near School
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (July 31, 2023) — Three children riding bicycles were injured Sunday night when a driver struck them on Planz Road in Bakersfield near an elementary school.
The hit-and-run crash occurred around 9 p.m. on July 30th, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
An investigation is underway after a driver in a gold or brown Kia Forte or similar vehicle struck the three children, KGET reports. They were riding in a two-way left-turn storage lane in the 2300 block of Planz Road. The driver struck them from behind and then fled the scene.

Paramedics with the Kern County Fire Department responded and rushed to of the children to a hospital. One suffered major injuries and the other had minor injuries. The third children was assessed at the scene and released.
There are no further details at this time about the children or the suspect.
The Bakersfield Police Department is heading up the investigation.
