2 Children Critically Injured in Watts Hit-and-Run Crash on Compton Avenue
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 19, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash critically injured two children on Compton Avenue in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles.
According to the KTLA News and My News LA, the accident occurred earlier this month on May 9. Officers reported the collision at about 2:45 p.m.
The incident happened when a two children, both 8 years old, were crossing on westbound Compton Avenue in Watts. At the same time, a vehicle was going south.
Police said the driver then struck the young pedestrians, south of 92nd Street. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found them left lying on the ground.
Juveniles Hit by Car in Los Angeles
The juveniles sustained severe injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed them to a hospital and listed them in critical condition.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the children. The suspect soon fled southbound on Compton at a high rate of speed.
Officials described the car involved as a black or maroon Chevrolet Cruze. Authorities are still searching for the driver. The Los Angeles hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
