CHIRIACO SUMMIT, California (April 7, 2014) – Two people were killed and seven people suffered major and moderate injuries Sunday night in a solo car accident on the eastbound Interstate 10 freeway, just east of Box Canyon Road and east of Coachella, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
About 5:11 p.m., Riverside firefighters and police responded to the single-vehicle crash on the freeway and confirmed two people died at the scene. Four ambulances responded to transport four people with major injuries and three with moderate injuries to local hospitals.
“This is a tragedy for all of those involved and their families,” said Attorney James Johnson. “Hopefully those who are injured have a full recovery. My condolences go out to the families of those killed in yesterday’s crash.”
