CHIRIACO SUMMIT, California (October 20, 2016) — One person has died and three injured in a solo rollover crash Thursday morning in the center divider of the eastbound Interstate 10 Freeway at Hayfield Road, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The crash took place about 5:44 a.m. this morning. The crash involved a small car that overturned and landed upright. The fire department and police responded to the scene to help those involved, but one person died of their injuries. Two others were seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital for further treatment. A third person suffered moderate injuries, but declined transport to a hospital, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The crash remains under investigation by police to determine liability. Although the report does not indicate there were other drivers involved, a dangerous condition or mechanical defect such as faulty airbags should be ruled out.
