CHIRIACO SUMMIT, California (October 12, 2015) — Pamela and Henry Gutierrez, both of San Diego, were killed Saturday afternoon when their SUV overturned in the center median of the Interstate 10 Freeway, a report by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.
The crash took place at 3:52 p.m. about 4.5 miles west of Cottonwood Springs Road, the report said. Pamela, 64, and Henry, 70, both died of their injuries at the scene of the crash at 4:26 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. respectively. Responding firefighters had to cut and rescue the victims from the scene of the crash.
The California Highway Patrol’s Indio station is heading up the investigation into what caused the crash. It’s not clear if there were other vehicles involved or if this was a solo crash.
