CHP Reports Bakersfield Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash Compagnoni Street in Kern County

KERN COUNTY, Calif. (June 26, 2025) — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred Thursday afternoon on Compagnoni Street near the border of Kern and Los Angeles counties.
CHP officers responded to the scene around 1:50 p.m. on June 26th at 9855 Compagnoni Street. According to initial reports, a silver Toyota RAV4 was identified as the suspect vehicle. Authorities noted the SUV was missing its front bumper and fled the scene following the deadly collision.
The incident is being treated as a felony hit-and-run, and a “be on the lookout” (BOL) alert has been issued for the vehicle. No license plate information has been confirmed at this time.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released, and further details about the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
