Christian Lopez, 11, Killed in Madera County Head-On Crash on Avenue 12
MADERA (April 15, 2019) – A 11-year-old boy killed after a traffic collision along Avenue 12 Saturday afternoon has been identified as Christian Lopez.
California Highway Patrol said an Audi sedan was headed east on Avenue 12 when for an unknown reason it veered into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a Toyota 4-Runner.
According to reports by The Fresno Bee and ABC 30 News, the two vehicles were traveling at about 55 mph to 60 mph prior to impact. The accident occurred on April 13 at around 4:25 p.m., just east of Road 34 1/2.

Lopez who was riding as a passenger in the Toyota and the 17-year-old boy driving the Audi both died at the scene.
The driver and another juvenile in the SUV were airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center while two other occupants of the same vehicle were taken by ground ambulance to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
