At Least 1 Killed in Collision Near Merced Mall
Merced, CA (June 7, 2023) – Christina Soltero, a 27-year-old woman, died and another woman suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on West Olive Avenue on June 5, Monday.
According to Merced Sun-Star News, two vehicles crashed into each other near the 800 block of West Olive Avenue. Earlier reports indicated a white Toyota Camry was heading west on Olive; when a tan SUV turned right onto Olive from the parking lot area near the Merced Mall. Officials said the driver of the SUV crossed multiple lanes, leading to the sideswipe collision.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene shortly after 7:40 p.m. First responders found the Camry in the median on its roof and partially on top of a light pole. The article published online mentioned the driver of the Camry was transported to Mercy Medical Center. Sadly, the woman succumbed to her injuries and passed away. The Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased as Christina Soltero.

Authorities added a passenger in the Camry, a 27-year-old female, was flown to an area trauma center for treatment of critical injuries. Personal information on the patient remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the catastrophic incident that happened on West Olive Avenue in Merced.
