Christine Hawk Embree, 35, Killed in Carlsbad E-Bike Crash
CARLSBAD, CA (August 9, 2022) – Christine Hawk Embree was killed after an e-bike crash at Basswood Avenue and Valley Street in Carlsbad.
Family members identified the 35-year-old Carlsbad woman as the victim of the fatal collision which took place on Sunday.
The incident happened when Christine Hawk Embree was riding an e-bike with her 16-month-old daughter on the back in Carlsbad. For an unknown reason, a Toyota 4-Runner struck them.
The car hit the mother and her child at the intersection of Basswood Avenue at Valley Street. The accident occurred on August 7 at around 5:45 p.m. near Carlsbad High School.
Driver Hits Mother and Daughter
Police said Christine Hawk Embree sustained serious injuries as a result of the e-bike crash. Paramedics rushed her to a hospital, where she soon died.
The San Diego Union-Tribune and NBC San Diego wrote that her daughter ended up unharmed following the accident.
Meanwhile, police added that the 42-year-old woman driving the Toyota stopped and stayed at the scene after the collision. The incident forced the area of Basswood and Valley to shut down for a time.
The cause of the Carlsbad crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the police at (442) 339-2282.
