Woman Killed in Santa Paula ATV Rollover Crash; DUI Suspected
SANTA PAULA, Calif. (Sept. 20, 2018) — Christopher Almena, 25, of Fillmore, was arrested on suspicion of DUI following a rollover ATV crash that killed his passenger identified only as a 23-year-old Arleta woman.
The collision took place on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. in the 20500 block of South Mountain Road, near Balcom Canyon Road.
Almena was reportedly driving an all-terrain vehicle on a dirt roadway when he lost control and the vehicle overturned. His passenger was partially ejected and died of her injuries.
Police arrested Almena on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol and was booked into county jail, police said.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released the victim’s name.

The investigation into a collision such as this one begins immediately. Police will piece together evidence and speak with any witnesses. The driver who is suspected of DUI may face criminal and civil charges for the death of his passenger.
