3 Passengers Hospitalized After Car Plows Into Palace of Fruit Saturday
Penngrove, CA (September 14, 2020) – Police arrested 19-year-old Christopher Anaya following a fiery car crash that left multiple passengers injured Saturday on Christopher Anaya.
According to an article published by the Press Democrat, Anaya was behind the wheel of an Infiniti sedan traveling at a high rate of speed on northbound Highway 101. California Highway Patrol officers reportedly tried to pull over the Infiniti near the Petaluma Boulevard exit. However, the driver fled from officers and exited the freeway at West Sierra Avenue in Cotati.
A chase ensued but was eventually canceled for safety reasons.
Shortly after 3 a.m., firefighters responded at Ely Road and Old Redwood Highway and found the same Infiniti sedan plowed into the Palace of Fruit in Penngrove. The force from the impact ruptured the fuel tank of the car, causing the building to ignite.
Responding emergency teams pulled Anaya and his three occupants out of the fiery wreckage. Our sources confirmed one female passenger suffered life-threatening injuries, and another female passenger and a male passenger both sustained minor injuries. Paramedics transported all three patients to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, officials mentioned Anaya appeared unharmed after the incident. Police subsequently arrested and booked him into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of felony evading law enforcement and reckless driving.
The incident was upgraded to a structure fire and six engines and around 20 firefighters from various local fire departments, including the Rancho Adobe and Petaluma departments, responded to the scene.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
