Christopher Bermudez was Motorcyclist Killed in Ridgecrest Crash on Hwy 178

KERN COUNTY, Calif., (Sept. 15, 2026) — Christopher Daniel Bermudez, 55, of Ridgecrest, was killed in a motorcycle crash involving an SUV on Highway 178 near Pinto Street, just west of Ridgecrest in the China Lake Acres area, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred on West Inyokern Road (SR-178) at approximately 7:32 p.m. on Sept. 13th in front of the Buttermilk Acres store and gas station. The crash involved a motorbike and a large SUV; however, it’s unknown what led up to the accident. Emergency units were dispatched arriving at the scene shortly after being assigned around 7:35 p.m.
