
Bicycle Rider Struck, Killed in Hayward
HAYWARD, Calif. (May 9, 2023) — Christopher Cassel, 29, of Salinas, died in a Hayward bicycle accident on Tennyson Road, just east of the Interstate 880 Freeway on ramp.
The deadly crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on May 7th, according to the East Bay Times.
The bicyclist was struck on died Sunday night by a vehicle in the eastbound lanes of Tennyson Road.
Police responded and located the injured man in the roadway. Paramedics were also at the scene and pronounced the Salinas man dead.
Authorities say his death was the fifth traffic fatality investigated by Hayward police in 2023.
Meanwhile, police questioned the 27-year-old driver from the vehicle, but did not suspect alcohol or drug impairment were factors.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault.
