Pedestrian Hit by Car on Highway 58 Near Bakersfield
KEENE, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2018) – Christopher Lee Craven, 30, of Bakersfield, was struck and killed Sunday night while walking along Highway 58 in Keene, just south of Bakersfield, according to KGET.
The collision was reported about 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, November 4 on Highway 58, just west of E. Bear Mountain Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol said.
The man was apparently wearing dark clothing and walking on the right shoulder of westbound Highway 58. The driver reported that the victim stepped onto the road and directly into the path of their oncoming 2018 Ford.
CHP said the driver didn’t see Craven on the road because of the minimal lighting and his dark clothes. The 42-year-old Hayward man who struck the pedestrian, stopped and cooperated with the police investigation. Meanwhile, the Craven died of his injuries at the scene.
