COMPTON, Calif. (June 6, 2018) – Christopher Frushon, 19, has been identified as the pedestrian who died in a hit-and-run crash on May 26 as he walked in a crosswalk at Wilmington Avenue, just north of Stockwell Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash took place about 8:45 p.m. The driver fled the scene and Frushon was taken to a hospital where he later died.
Police are not hoping the public can help them locate the suspect who fled the scene. The vehicle is described as a mid-sized Kia or Dodge Charger with most likely extensive front-end damage.
They say the driver was speeding above the 35 mph posted speed limit when he struck the victim. He also reportedly ran through a red stop light at Stockwell Stret.
The victim, who was planning to become a welder, was about to move up north to live with his mother, police said. The report stated that the teenager had attended prom with his girlfriend just last week.
Anyone with information about this crime are urged to call (310) 605-3516, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
