3 Hurt in Head-on Crash on Pioneertown Road
PIONEERTOWN, California (March 3, 2020) – Eileen McNulty, 25, of Los Angeles, and her passenger, Christopher Hager, 26, of Northfield, Minnesota, were among three hurt Friday night in a collision with a wrong-way driver on Pioneertown Road.
The pair were traveling in a 1997 Honda Odyssey when a driver in a 2016 Ram 2500 pickup truck driving southbound in the wrong direction crashed into their car and another vehicle about 8:15 p.m. on Friday. The impact of the head-on crash caused the pickup truck to overturn in the northbound lanes.
Wrong-way Driver Hurt, Arrested for DUI
Stanley White, 75, of Pioneertown,was driving the pickup truck that initially crashed into a 2008 Hyundai Accent driven by 36-year-old Fan He of Pasadena, just south of Chateau Road. White kept traveling southbound in the northbound lanes until he collided with the Honda Odyssey driven by McNulty.
Paramedics responded and transported both White and Hager to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. Meanwhile, McNulty was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center where she was also treated for major injuries.
Police stated that all those hurt were wearing a seat belt.
It was determined by police that White was driving under the influence during the crash. He will be arrested for felony DUI once he is released from the hospital.
The crash is under investigation by Officer J. Williams of the Morongo Basin CHP.
