Tow Truck Driver Killed in La Verne Hit-and-Run on 210 Freeway
LA VERNE, Calif. (September 15, 2020) – Christopher Herrera has been identified as the tow truck driver who died Monday after being hit by an alleged hit-and-run, DUI collision on the Interstate 210 Freeway.
Meanwhile, police have arrested the suspected drunk driver who fled. Karen D. Floresarrelano was driving a 2012 BMW 528i eastbound in the No. 3 lane of the Foothill Freeway about 9 p.m. The crash took place just east of Fruit Street when she struck Herrera who was standing on the right shoulder of the freeway helping a disabled driver, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Christopher Herrera, 40, of La Habra, died of his injuries on scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. Floresarrelano was arrested at the scene after police located her vehicle on the right shoulder of the freeway.
Alcohol is suspected to be a factor and Floresarrelano was booked at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s San Dimas station.
