Pedestrian Killed in Chula Vista DUI Crash on L Street Near Third Avenue
CHULA VISTA, CA (April 2, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a DUI crash along L Street in Chula Vista.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the tragic accident occurred late Friday night. Officers reported the collision at about 10 p.m.
Police said a 2002 Toyota Tacoma struck a male pedestrian who was walking across L Street in Chula Vista. The car hit him between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and then found the 38-year-old man lying on the ground as a result of the collision.
Man Hit by DUI Driver Near Fourth Avenue
Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The name of the deceased victim remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the male driver of the pickup truck stopped and stayed at the crash site after hitting the pedestrian. Police later determined that he was under the influence when the incident happened.
Authorities soon arrested the motorist on suspicion of DUI. They also forced L Street to close between Third and Fourth avenues for a time following the collision.
The fatal Chula Vista DUI crash is still under investigation.
