Motorcyclist Injured in Chula Vista Crash on I-5 Freeway
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Nov. 9, 2021) — A Chula Vista motorcycle accident happened Tuesday on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway, just south of H Street.
The 5:53 a.m. collision on Nov. 9th involved a pickup truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP reported the two vehicles collided in the No. 2 lane of the I-5 Freeway due to unknown circumstances. The pickup truck driver pulled over in the center divider and the bike went down in traffic lanes. Authorities say the rider was not moving, but breathing following the collision. The Chula Vista police and fire crews responded to the scene. Paramedics transported the injured rider to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries from the Chula Vista motorcycle accident.
Emergency crews and the motorcycle blocked the northbound lanes of the freeway. A tow truck removed the damaged bike, but it’s unknown if the pickup truck was badly damaged or not.
Investigators seek to determine the cause of the crash and liability.
