2 Girls Seriously Injured in Chula Vista Pedestrian Crash at Fourth Avenue and Park Way
CHULA VISTA, CA (August 23, 2021) – Two girls were seriously injured after a pedestrian crash at Fourth Avenue and Park Way in Chula Vista.
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News, the accident took place on Monday evening. Officers reported the collision at about 7:40 p.m.
The incident began when two teenage girls were walking east across Fourth Avenue at the intersection with Park Way. At the same time, a vehicle was going north on Fourth Avenue.
Juveniles Hit by Car in Crosswalk
Chula Vista police said for an unknown reason, the male driver struck the pedestrian juveniles in a marked crosswalk. Paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed them to a San Diego hospital for treatment of major injuries.
Officials listed one girl in stable condition while the other in critical condition. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist stopped after hitting the victims.
Officers forced the area of Fourth Avenue and Park Way to shut down for a time following the wreck. The cause of the Chula Vista pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
