
Man, 42, Hospitalized After Car Accident
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Jan. 22, 2025) — A 42-year-old man was seriously injured Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle in a pedestrian accident at Third Avenue and Palomar Street in Chula Vista.
The Chula Vista Police Department reported the crash happened around 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21st, 2025.
Police officers responded to the intersection and found the injured pedestrian and a 23-year-old driver of a silver 2012 Nissan Leaf.
The motorist was reportedly heading south on Third Avenue when she struck the man as he was crossing against a “don’t walk” symbol, the report said. He was walking from the east side of the roadway to the west side, police said.
Paramedics treated the 42-year-old pedestrian and transported him to a local trauma center to be treated for serious internal injuries.
Meanwhile, the Chula Vista driver cooperated with investigators who determined that drugs and or alcohol were not factors.
There is an ongoing investigation by the Chula Vista Police Traffic Bureau into liability for the collision.
