REDONDO BEACH, California (May 8, 2017) — Ciara Smith, 13, of Redondo Beach was struck by an MTA bus and killed late Friday afternoon as she rode her bicycle near Pacific Coast Highway and Knob Hill Avenue, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department.
The fatal crash took place about 5:30 p.m. as the girl and her friend rode their bikes and approached PCH where she allegedly rolled out into the path of the bus and was struck down, according to the Daily Breeze. There were multiple witnesses who saw the tragic accident and spoke with police.
The Parras Middle School student died of her injuries at the scene. The friend was not injured in the incident.
