CLAREMONT (June 30, 2014) – A passenger who was thrown from a pickup truck and killed Saturday morning on the Foothill 210 Freeway was identified today as Gevork Krpikyan, 27, of Las Vegas, Nevada, according to news reports.
Police say the man was not wearing a seat belt when the driver of a 2004 Dodge pickup truck he was riding in was struck by a hit-and-run driver early Saturday morning about 1:33 a.m., CHP said.
Michael T. Mahan, 30, of Las Vegas, was behind the wheel of the pickup at suffered minor injuries including cuts and bruises.
Police arrested Ryan Munoz, 37, of Alhambra on hit-and-run charges after a witness spotted him hirding near a driveway not far from the scene of the crash.
According to police, Munoz was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when he reardended the pickup truck in the westbound No. 3 lane just east of Towne Avenue. The pickup truck was knocked off the freeway into a dirg embankment where it overturned and Krpikyan was ejected.
“Police will head up on investigatation into the collision and the report will be available in several weeks,” said Attorney James Johnson.
