Woman Killed, Motorcyclist Injured in Montebello Crash
MONTEBELLO, Calif. (August 13, 2024) – Claudia Barrera-Rocha, 47, died in a Montebello crash Sunday night on the Pomona 60 Freeway, just west of Garfield Avenue.
A second person, who was riding the motorcycle, was hospitalized with major injuries following the collision in the eastbound lanes of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash occurred at 8:27 p.m. on Sunday, August 11th in the middle lanes of the 60 Freeway, police said.
A driver in a car and a motorcycle collided due to unknown circumstances and the rider went down in the middle of the freeway, the CHP said. The woman, identified as Claudia Barrera-Rochawas, was traveling in the vehicle. She suffered major injuries and died at the scene just before 9 p.m.
Paramedics transported the other person from the motorcycle to a hospital with a major injury.
Police issued a SigAlert at 8:54 p.m. and closed down all eastbound lanes of the Pomona Freeway.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the fatal Montebello crash on the Pomona Freeway.
