Vanessa Torres Killed, Claudia De Torres Injured in Tulare Crash
TULARE (April 4, 2018) – An infant was killed and a woman was badly hurt after a traffic collision in the area of Road 124 and Avenue 256 Monday evening, according to Visalia Times-Delta and FOX 26 News.
The baby has been identified as 5-month-old Vanessa Torres, while the injured as 44-year-old Porterville resident Claudia De Torres.
As per the reports, California Highway Patrol said 25-year-old Amanda Goldsberry was driving a Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck Avalanche when she allegedly did not stop at the posted stop sign at the intersection at 6:20 p.m.
A Honda Odyssey then veered into oncoming traffic in an attempt to avoid the Avalanche. The van collided with a Nissan Maxima, causing the child to be ejected from the Odyssey.

CHP affirmed that the little girl, who was apparently infant not securely fastened in a car seat, was ultimately struck by the Nissan. She died at the scene.
Meanwhile, Claudia De Torres was transported to the Kaweah Delta Medical Center with a broken leg. Her other three passengers and the driver of the Maxima, 30-year-old Tulare resident Patricia Mendoza, were unharmed.
The incident remains under investigation.
