Fiery, 2-Vehicle Collision on Interstate 405 Freeway
CULVER CITY, Calif. (June 3, 2024) – Clifton Gore, Jr. 74, is one of two people who died in a fiery, two-vehicle crash early Friday morning on the Interstate 405 Freeway near National Boulevard in Culver City.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene at around 2:13 a.m. on May 31st to the northbound side of the Santa Monica Freeway where the Toyota Prius and an SUV had collided.
The Prius reportedly burst into flames upon impact and both Clifton Gore Jr., and an unidentified woman suffered fatal injuries, the CHP said. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed the deaths of the man and the woman at the scene, police said.
The second vehicle also caught on fire, but was not completely burned. It’s unknown if anyone in that vehicle was hurt.
Finally, The CHP issued a SigAlert that closed all lanes of the freeway for several hours while they investigating the cause of the collision.
