Landers Man Killed in Wrong-way Crash Memorial Day
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (June 1, 2021) – Clinton Palmquist, 42, of Landers, died in a wrong-way crash on Highway 62 on Memorial Day at the border of Whitewater and North Palm Springs.
The collision happened about 10 p.m. near Dillon Road on Monday, May 31st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a westbound car traveling in the eastbound lanes crashed head-on into another motorist, according to NBC Palm Springs.
One of the vehicles wound up in the center divider and the other on the right shoulder at Dillon Road.
Deadly Memorial Day Crash on Twentynine Palms Highway
Clinton Palmquist suffered major injuries in the crash and died at the scene. Police did not mention which vehicle he was riding in, nor if he was a driver or passenger.
Meanwhile, another person was trapped in a vehicle and extricated by arriving firefighters. They rushed the injured person to a local hospital to be treated for moderate injuries.
Investigators are working to determine what led to the crash.
