Man Killed, Woman Injured at Magnolia Street, Hamilton Avenue
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (August 9, 2021) – Clinton Silverman, 74, of Huntington Beach, died Sunday morning in a tandem bicycle accident at Magnolia Street and Hamilton Avenue.
The fatal bicycle accident happened about 8:50 a.m. on Sunday, August 8th, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.
An SUV struck the 74-year-old man while riding a tandem bicycle with his 82-year-old wife.
Two Hurt in Bike Accident with SUV in Huntington Beach
Clinton Silverman and his wife were both badly hurt in the collision. Paramedics transported both people from the Magnolia Street and Hamilton Avenue intersection to a hospital, according to Huntington Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Carey.
Despite life-saving efforts by medical personnel, he later died at the hospital. His wife suffered serious injuries in the collision.
Meanwhile, the driver of the 2005 Ford Explorer SUV stopped and cooperated with police, Carey said.
Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
