1 Killed, 2 Injured in Clovis Crash on Ashlan Avenue Near Siverly and Sunnyside
CLOVIS, CA (June 19, 2022) – A DUI crash killed one person and injured two others on Ashlan Avenue in Clovis.
According to The Fresno Bee and FOX 26 News, the tragic accident took place on Sunday evening. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 7 p.m.
The incident began when a black pickup truck was going west on Ashlan Avenue near East Siverly Lane in Clovis. At the same time, a gray Nissan sedan was traveling east.
The California Highway Patrol said the pickup then crossed over into the eastbound side and struck the Nissan head-on. The two cars crashed near Sunnyside Avenue.
DUI Driver Hits Family Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the man driving the sedan dead at the scene. He was with his wife and two children when the truck hit them.
The woman ended up hurt and a child sustained broken bones as a result of the collision. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the driver of the pickup truck was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck happened.
They soon arrested and booked the 35-year-old man into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI. Officers forced a stretch of Ashlan Avenue to shut down for a time following the incident.
The fatal Clovis crash is still under investigation.
