Pedestrian Critically Injured in Clovis Crash on Herndon Avenue Near Sunnyside
CLOVIS, CA (June 21, 2022) – A pedestrian was critically injured after a DUI crash near Herndon Avenue and Sunnyside Avenue in Clovis.
According to The Fresno Bee and FOX 26 News, the accident took place on Monday night. Officers reported the collision shortly after 9 p.m.
The incident happened on June 20 when a male pedestrian was crossing Herndon Avenue in front of the Habit restaurant in the city. At the same time, a vehicle was going west.
Man Hit by DUI Driver
Clovis police said the car then struck the man near Sunnyside Avenue. Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the victim who sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed him to a hospital and listed him in critical condition. The reports did not disclose the name of the wounded patient.
Meanwhile, police determined that the driver was under the influence when he hit the man. They soon arrested him for DUI.
Officers forced a stretch of Herndon Avenue to shut down for several hours following the incident. The Clovis pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
