LAKESIDE, Calif. (June 6, 2018) — Clyde Ray Chappell, 58, of San Diego, died early Sunday morning following a crash on the northbound state Route 67, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The crash took place at 11:41 p.m. on Saturday, June 2. Chappell was a backseat passenger in a vehicle headed northbound on Highway 67 whose driver reportedly lost control and went off the roadway. The man was ejected from the vehicle into the roadway. Paramedics responded to help him and he was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego. Unfortunately, the victim died about an hour later in the hospital at 1 a.m.
TRAFFIC ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
Police are investigating this collision and will determine fault. At this time, we do not know why the driver lost control of the vehicle. There may have been a dangerous condition in the roadway, driver or mechanical errors or some other reason for the collision. This will be determined as police piece together the facts of this case.
