2 Killed, 2 Injured in Coachella Crash on Southbound State Route 86
COACHELLA, CA (May 13, 2021) – Two were killed and two others were injured after a crash on State Route 86 in Coachella.
According to The Desert Scene and NBC Palm Springs, the tragic accident occurred on Thursday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 10:50 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol said a big rig and a sedan collided for an unknown reason in Coachella. The two crashed on southbound State Route 86, south of Avenue 50.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and then extricated one trapped person from the wreckage. They soon pronounced two people dead at the scene.
Medical personnel then took two other patients to an area hospital for treatment of minor to moderate injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded victims remain unreleased.
Meanwhile, officials forced southbound State Route 86 to shut down at the Interstate 10 for a time following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Coachella crash is still under investigation.
