Officer Hit and Injured by Vehicle at 51st Avenue and Mecca Street Friday
Coachella, CA (November 12, 2020) – A Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy suffered injuries following a suspected hit-and-run crash in the area of 51st Avenue and Mecca Street Friday morning.
The KESQ News reported, two civilian vehicles collided at the Coachella intersection. The force from the impact caused one vehicle to slam into the unmarked vehicle occupied by the deputy.

Officials said the driver who triggered the first crash fled the scene. The hit-and-run suspect and their vehicle was not located by responding police.
Meanwhile, local news source indicated the Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy suffered injuries as a result of the crash. The name of the injured officer, and the extent of their injuries remained undisclosed.
Additional details on the collision have not been revealed thus far. Given that, investigators handling the case continue to work to determine several factors surrounding the hit-and-run car accident in Coachella.
