COALINGA (August 12, 2016)– According to the Fresno Bee, a woman in her 90s was seriously injured following a pit bull attack Friday morning.
The incident occurred at around 8:00 a.m. as a woman was suddenly attacked her in her front yard biting off several of her fingers and leaving her with multiple other injuries.
A police officer happened to be in the area and was able to shoot the dog as it attempted to attack for the second time.
The unidentified victim was flown to Community Regional Medical Center, where she underwent surgery and remains in serious condition.
Animal control was able to find the animal lying down near the porch of a home and put it to sleep.
Coalinga police officials are currently investigating the incident and are searching for the dog’s owner. Anyone who has information is encouraged to call 559-935-1525.
