Deadly, Chain-Reaction Crash in Manteca

There was a series of collisions involving six vehicles early Friday, March 31st, beginning when a black Honda Accord slammed into the back of U-Haul truck. The truck also hit a big rig truck and the Honda drove away in the wrong direction before it crashed into the Subaru carrying the three college students.

Next, the Subaru sideswiped a black GMC Denali pickup truck and the car spun around and came to a stop facing the wrong direction. That’s when a black Chevrolet Suburban SUV hit the Subaru head-on. The only survivor from the Subaru was its driver who had major injuries, police said. The three passengers died at the scene of the crash.

Furthermore, the unidentified driver from the Honda died at the scene of the collision.

Meanwhile, the UC Davis students were all living in the residence hall at the university.

Margarette Guinto Ventura was a sophomore majoring in biological sciences, Minkyu Geon, was a junior studying electrical engineering, and Codi Orland Mateo was a senior majoring in neurobiology, physiology and behavior.

The crash remains under investigation.
