Colin Rumbold, 34, Killed in San Francisco Crash on Highway 101 and Interstate 80
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (June 9, 2022) – Colin Rumbold was killed after a crash on the Highway 101 and Interstate 80 connector in San Francisco.
The coroner’s office identified the 34-year-old Alameda County man as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place on Tuesday.
The incident began when a Nissan sedan crashed and blocked one lane of traffic. At the same time, Colin Rumbold riding a motorcycle approached the disabled car on the San Francisco freeway.
The motorcyclist lost control of his bike as he tried to avoid the Nissan. The California Highway Patrol said he then slammed into a wall and ended up ejected from his bike.
2 Drivers Arrested For DUI
The rider fell 30 feet down to the westbound Interstate 80 connector ramp, and ended up on top of a Honda sedan. The Honda was traveling to the Highway 101 southbound connector ramp at the time.
CHP added that the sedan slowed to a stop and the victim landed on the road. At least one more vehicle ran over him in the process.
Colin Rumbold died at the scene of the crash. The KTVU News and KRON 4 News wrote that the accident occurred on June 7 at about 3:28 a.m.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the drivers of the Nissan and Subaru were under the influence at the time. They soon arrested and booked them on suspicion DUI misdemeanor.
The motorist in the Honda survived with minor injuries as a result of the collision. Anyone with information can call the CHP at (510) 557-1094.
