Fatalities ID’d as Alex Peyro and Rudy Javier Vargas
COLTON, CALIFORNIA (March 28, 2016) – A high speed police chase ended in two men killed at Mt. Vernon and Rialto Avenues Friday morning, according to NBC Los Angeles.
The fatalities were identified as 26-year-old Alex Peyro and 30-year-old Rudy Javier Vargas.
The accident happened at around 5:00 a.m. near La Cadena Drive.
Preliminary report stated that the police officers tried to stop Vargas traveling in a black Honda on the roadway due to his erratic driving.
Vargas then led the police into a high speed chase but the officers eventually pulled off because the 80 to 100 mph speeds were too dangerous to pursue, as mentioned in the article.
After some time, the officers assigned at the area witnessed a puff of smoke which looked like a traffic collision.
They immediately responded to the location where the smoke was coming from. And upon arrival at the site, they have located a Ford Mustang wrecked after being broadsided by a black Honda.
The force from the impact concluded in the death of Vargas and the only Mustang passenger.
While the Mustang driver sustained injuries and was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for a confined treatment.
The Mustang passenger was identified as Peyro, fiancé to Sarah Sillas and father to two children.
The NBC Los Angeles published that the deadly incident was fully captured on surveillance footage from a nearby business.
Authorities continue to look more closely into the gathered information before pronouncing citations and liabilities on the case.
