Colton, CA (May 29, 2022) – A California Highway Patrol officer suffered injuries following a car accident that occurred on Washington Boulevard.

According to an article published online by On Scene TV, a motorist entered the opposite lane on Washington and continued driving in the wrong direction. An officer later spotted the reckless driver and attempted to stop them.

Earlier reports indicated the wrong-way motorist failed to yield and continued driving. At some point, the suspect crashed into the patrol vehicle driven by the CHP officer. The collision left the officer trapped in the wrecked patrol vehicle.

Shortly after the incident, rescue teams arrived at the site. Responding paramedics found the trapped officer with injuries including neck wounds and back pain. Personal information on the injured deputy remained undisclosed pending confirmation.

Meanwhile, the wrong-way driver apparently fled the scene after the crash. Authorities later found the suspect and arrested him for charges including DUI and felony hit-and-run.

Detectives continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the car accident on Washington Boulevard in Colton.
