Woman, 86, Killed in Concord Crash at Ayers Road and Valley Crest Drive
CONCORD (January 3, 2018) – An elderly pedestrian was killed after a traffic accident in the area of Ayers Road and Valley Crest Drive Wednesday afternoon, according to The Mercury News and Patch.
The collision took place on January 2 just before 3:20 p.m.
As per the reports, police said an 86-year-old Clayton woman was crossing south on Ayers Road when she was struck by a vehicle.
The male driver was traveling south from Clayton Road when he hit the pedestrian who was in the middle of the block outside of a crosswalk.

Police affirmed that the woman suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. Her name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the 58-year-old Concord man driving the car involved stopped and cooperated with the authorities. Ayers Road was closed between Clayton Road and Valley Crest Drive for about three hours and was reopened at about 6:05 p.m.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
