1 Injured After Theft Ends in Car Crash on Diamond Boulevard
DATE OF COLLISION: Tuesday, January 8th
January 9, 2019 – Injuries were reported after a burglary incident ended in a hit-and-run collision on Diamond Boulevard Tuesday afternoon, according to the Mercury News.
At approximately 1:50 p.m., local police reportedly responded to reports of the theft at Home Depot in the 2090 block of Meridian Park Boulevard.
When officers arrived, they learned a male party attempted to steal a power tool but was eventually caught. The thief apparently dropped the tool and ran to a waiting vehicle, which drove away.
Shortly after officials shared a description, another officer the vehicle on Diamond Boulevard near the Veranda shopping center and turned on his lights and siren to force it to stop. But the vehicle kept going, and soon struck another car on Diamond at the Willows shopping center entrance.
The driver of the victim vehicle was rushed by paramedics to a hospital for treatment of unknown extent of injuries. The patient was only identified as a 67-year-old Concord man.
Aleena Moore and Alejandro Cazares Arrested After Hit-and-Run Accident in Concord
Meanwhile, authorities have identified the suspects as 33-year-old Aleena Moore, and 26-year-old Alejandro Cazares. Both Moore and Cazares were detained and arrested on suspicion of burglary, evading and hit-and-run with injury.
Further investigation on the case is underway.
