Motorcyclist Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 4 Near San Marco
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (January 27, 2022) – A hit-and-run crash injured a motorcyclist on Highway 4 near San Marco Boulevard.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident took place on Thursday afternoon. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck shortly after 2:30 p.m.
The incident happened when a vehicle struck the rider of a Harley Davidson motorcycle for an unknown reason in Contra Costa County. The two crashed on eastbound Highway 4, just west of San Marco Boulevard.
Driver Hits Rider, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the cities of Pittsburg and Bay Point. They found the motorcyclist down on the ground as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel treated the victim for the unspecified injuries they sustained in the wreck. The report name of the wounded patient and their condition at this time were not disclosed.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the other driver did not stop to help the rider and then fled the area. Officers forced the eastbound Highway 4 to shut down near San Marco following the hit-and-run crash.
The cause of the wreck is still under investigation.
