2 Passengers Killed in Traffic Collision on Highway 4 Near McEwen Road Saturday
Contra Costa County, CA (October 2, 2021) – A fatal car crash occurred on State Route Highway 4 Saturday morning, the East Bay Times News reported.
Preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle veered off the roadway while traveling east on the highway near Martinez. According to the article published online, the blue SUV left left the roadway and drove down the embankment, just east of McEwen Road.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m., emergency crews arrived at the crash site. First responders found the blue SUV smashed into a tree.
Authorities said two passengers in the blue SUV were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the incident. As a result, the two passengers were ejected during the collision. Responding paramedics performed life-saving measures to both victims but they sadly succumbed to their injuries and died. Police continue to withhold the names of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, officials mentioned the driver escaped death with only minor injuries.
